OR 99W Sidewalk Project:  SW Royalty Parkway to Durham Road with ODOT.

King City, in partnership with ODOT, plans to add new sidewalk on OR 99W (Pacific Highway) and on SW Royalty Parkway.

Construction Impacts

Work began February 2019.  There will be a combination of day and night work.  Those traveling by car, bike, foot or public transit may experience short delays and intermittent detours throughout construction.  Visit the weekly construction updates, which details the traffic impacts on a weekly basis, updated every Friday.

LANE CLOSURES: Lane closures on OR 99W will be between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. (later on weekend mornings).  Lane closures on Royalty Parkway will be both day and night.  The driveway into the shopping center between Kaady Car Wash and Shari’s will be closed for approximately five days while it is reconstructed.

BIKE RIDERS: The shoulders of OR 99W will be closed during the night work with signs advising that bikes will be in the roadway.

PEDESTRIANS: Pedestrian access will not be permitted through the project area during construction.

TRANSIT USERS: The two Trimet bus stops on OR 99W (line 94) in the project area will be temporarily relocated.  Specific information is posted on www.trimet.org/alerts and at the bus stops.

NOISE: Residences and businesses adjacent to the project may experience daytime and nighttime construction noise.  ODOT and the contractor will work to minimize the noise as much as possible, but there will be unavoidable noise - including back-up alarms (the beeping noise construction vehicles make when backing up).  A noise hotline - 971-673-5239 - is available 24 hours a day for reporting noise issues requiring immediate attention.  ODOT staff can be reached via the noise hotline.

About

Why is this project needed?
There are currently gaps in the sidewalk system in the King City Town Center that force pedestrians into unpaved areas or to travel through private parking lots.  This project will add new sidewalk in two sections.  Filling these sidewalk gaps will provide community members safer and ADA-compliant walkways to homes, shopping and transit in the area, as well as promoting economic vitality and enhancing overall livability.

What's the solution?
The project will build new sidewalks in two different sections in King City. All new street and driveway connections will be constructed with ADA-complaint sidewalk ramps and crossings for pedestrian safety. The new sidewalks will connect with the existing sidewalks on either end. The new sidewalks are in these two locations:

** OR 99W/Pacific Highway southbound from SW Royalty Parkway to SW Durham Street.  This is an 8-foot-wide sidewalk.

** SW Royalty Parkway from SW 116th Avenue up to the existing sidewalk.  This is a 6-foot wide sidewalk.

Location

OR 99W | The project is located in King City on OR 99W between SW Royalty Parkway and SW Durham Road

Cost and Funding
