Jan Tysoe

Jan Tysoe moved to King City in 2010 while working towards a degree in Community Development from Portland State. She was appointed to finish a vacancy on the City Council on January 31, 2024. Jan has also served on the King City Planning Commission. Jan is delighted to use her degree to contribute to her King City community.

Jan’s professional career was forty years as a small business owner with her previous husband. They together owned and operated A-Ball Plumbing Supply in downtown Portland. They took it from a few antique plumbing items to becoming known for unique plumbing fixtures from around the globe. Over the years Jan volunteered on a number of small business boards for the City of Portland and the Portland Business Alliance. All of it being part of what community development means by sharing and helping to inform decisions for the community. One of the more exciting community advisory committees was the Portland West Burnside Advisory Committee. It changed the landscape to better manage traffic and pollution runoff and added landscape features.

Now Jan is semi-retired being a bookkeeper with a few small business clients and working part-time in a CPA’s office. She has the pleasure of having grandchildren nearby who attend Tigard-Tualatin schools.

Jan is excited about the future of King City and the role of being on the Planning Commission to help shape the future while living in the present.
