External Link Policy
The City of King City links to several sites from outside the City government. Citizens don’t always know or care which agency provides a service or where to get particular information. The City provides links to these sites as a courtesy to our citizens.
The City of King City makes decisions on what links to include on our website using the following guidelines:
- Other governments and educational institutions in Oregon and the United States, including individual school websites.
- Non-profit or public organizations with some relationship to the City are usually contractual.
- Utility and other service companies with an established franchise agreement with the City.
- We generally recognize community councils and organizations, for example, HOAs. If there is a question about the organization, the City Manager’s Office and legal team are consulted.
- Major arts, cultural, sports, or other festivals of general interest to King City citizens.
- Major media outlets based in King City or regional outlets regularly cover news stories in King City.
- General employment information in the King City area.
The City of King City does not generally link to:
- Corporate commercial sites; however, sites on the City’s server may include links to member or sponsor organizations. The City will also include links to business sites if they are presented as part of an economic development page directly related to City programs.
- Individual personal home pages.
- Generic third-party directory sites such as for internet/tv resellers and for-profit educational institutions.
- National sites, although departments may include links to public interest associations and similar organizations.
The City of King City does not link to:
- Candidate sites or sites were advocating a position on City or other ballot issues.

Privacy & Public Disclosure
The City of King City is highly sensitive to the privacy interests of its citizens and believes that the protection of those interests is one of its most significant responsibilities. In acknowledgment of its obligations, the City will not request any more information than is necessary to provide the highest level of service.
The City uses firewalls and other security technology to prevent our computers from being accessed by unauthorized persons. During the course of a credit card transaction, the information is stored on a secured server. To perform this service, the City must, of course, pass information about transactions to your financial institution. The City will not share this information with any other third party other than the payment processing vendor.
Documents submitted to the City of King City are generally presumed to be public records subject to inspection and copying upon request.
The email address at which you receive public notifications or updates may be used for other communications from the City of King City.
“Personal information” is info that is readily identifiable to a specific individual. Personal information includes such things as an individual’s name, address, phone number, and email address. A domain name or Internet protocol address is not considered personal information.
We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily participate in an activity that asks for information (i.e., sending an email, participating in a survey, or accessing a service). If you choose not to participate in these activities, your choice will in no way affect your ability to use any other feature of our Web site.

The following is a partial list of what is now considered “private” information under state and federal law. We will not disclose the following information:
- Social security number
- Driver license number
- Credit card information
- Bank account information

Online Services
The City of King City intends to offer more services online as a means to improve services and to make them more convenient and accessible. If you access services during your visit to the City Web site (e.g., Payments Online), we will collect additional information related directly to the service you are accessing. We will limit the information requested to only that required to conduct the service. You may be offered opportunities related to the service, for instance, to be put on a mailing list for upcoming events, and it will be your choice as to whether you accept the offer.
Public Records
The information that you provide and we collect is retained in accordance with Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) Public Records Policy 192.005 to 192.170 and 357.805 to 357.895. In some limited cases, the information may be exempt from these regulations.

Email and Surveys
If during your visit to the City of King City Web site you participate in a survey or send an email, the following additional information will be collected:
- The email address and contents of the email
- Information volunteered in response to a survey
We use your email to respond appropriately. This may be to respond to you, address issues you identify, further improve our Web site, or forward the email to any other agency for appropriate action. Survey information is used for the purpose designated. Email and survey information are public records.
